Happy New Year 2014!
I
wanted to start the New Year 2014 with a sweet and coconut ladoo has been on my
‘to-try’ sweet list for a long time now. What better way to welcome 2014 than
preparing something that I wanted for a long time. This is the first time I tried
this recipe it was so moist, soft and tasty.
Ingredients:
Grated
coconut (fresh/dried) 1 and ½ cups tightly packed
Sugar
½ cup (adjust according to taste)
Whole
milk 2 cups
Powdered
elachi/cardamom a pinch
Broken
nuts 2 tblsp
Ghee
or melted butter 1 tblsp
How to:
- Use a large, flat, heavy bottomed skillet and add milk to it.
- If using fresh coconut add the coconut to the milk now. If using dry coconut you can let the milk boil for 5 minutes and then add the coconut.
- Stir the coconut and the milk for 15-20 minutes in medium flame.
- Once the mix is dry, add the sugar and ghee. Adding sugar will make the dish more watery.
- Keep mixing until the dish is fully dry. When you try to squeeze the dish with a flat ladle, you should not be able to see wetness in the skillet.
- Do not burn the dish. Keep the flame in medium. Once the dish is done switch off the flame and let the dish cool. You can add the broken nuts.
- When the dish is warm, make small balls out of it.
- Moist and sweet coconut ladoo is ready.
Tips:
Beginners
can prepare this dish easily as there is absolutely no way to spoil the dish as
long as the flame is medium and the coconut doesn’t brown. Good Luck.
